Lawry had his 6 month birthday 11/16 (last Friday). I was also promoted at work. I do not have a new title just yet, so I will let you know. It is exciting, yet a bit nerve racking. I am going to be 2-3 peoples' supervisor, including a good friend. I hope it is okay. I also got a green light to hire an assist for SANE call. This is a very good thing. I really love my job and think that it is worthy, important work. But, I do resent it at times when I am on call and have to leave my baby boy to do a SANE exam. I know that it is for the greater good and that I am helping a person in need, but I just do not want to be away from him. The extra help is long overdue and very much needed.
The best thing about my job is that Lawry is at daycare on the first floor of my building, while my office is on the second floor. My supervisors are very supportive of me as a mother and of breastfeeding. I just go to daycare and nurse him every few hours while at work. What a wonderful privilege. This is the way it should be for every working mother.
Here is a list of the things Lawry likes as a 6 month old:
Mommy and daddy
Breastfeeding
Sucking his fingers (and toes)
Having mommy suck on his fingers while he is breastfeeding (It is like "Pat the Bunny," Lawry is telling me, "I can suck my fingers, now YOU suck on my fingers." It is really sweet.)
Socks and putting them in his mouth
Quietly observing all that is around him
Talking
Getting his diaper changed on the changing pad
Baths
Getting picked up from daycare
Helping mommy and daddy fold clothes (we dump the clothes on him and he puts the socks in his mouth while we fold)
His silver teething rattle
Bob the butterfly and his football (both hanging toys)
Things he does not like:
Tummy time (he still cannot roll over)
Solids (although he had a good day today, maybe he is changing his mind)
Having lotion put on his face
The nasal aspirator
Being tired
Being in the car too much (he does reach a breaking point)
