Biting hurts

Lawry bit me while nursing a few nights ago. He and I were so tired that neither really realized what had happened. It did hurt though. Today, he was sitting in my lap facing me. Usually, when he does this, he kind of paws at me and we talk. I was looking at Andrew and suddenly Lawry bit my breast. Funny, weird, and painful all at once. I hope that he isn't turning into one of those kids that bite everything, including other children. I have heard of these kids at daycares and in families. You have to watch out for them. After he bit me, I told him, "No, bite Mommy!" Other mothers have told me that when they did this, their baby starting crying. Luckily, Lawry did not. He sort of ignored me for a few minutes, and then all was right with the world again.

He can pretty much sit up on his own now too. Andrew and I usually sit behind him just in case he falls backwards. He will sit there and grab at things happily. His grandmother got him a "Build a Bear" teddy bear for Christmas. Lawry loves that thing. The "Build a Bear" experience was sort of bizarre. You pick an empty shell of a stuffed animal and pick its heart. It is then stuffed for you. You can pick out an array of clothing and accessories. We got the bear a TKD uniform with a black belt. Overall, though, it was more fun than I thought it would be. I could see why the children like it. Lawry certainly loves his teddy bear. Every time he sees it, he reaches for it and puts its head in his mouth.

I wrote the above paragraphs 12/15/07. For some reason, I did not post them at the time. I wanted to add more content or something philosophical. Silly really. Enjoy Lawry and his bear:

Lawry's Rolling

Lawry rolled over for the first time this weekend! He went from his back to his stomach in order to grab one of his favorite toys: the bunny made by Abby. He then got stuck on his stomach. He likes it at first, then starts trying to roll back over, then gets tired and puts his head down, and finally gives up and starts crying. At this point, we will take pity on him and move him on his back.

Check it out:

Watching him do new things is so awesome. This morning he was hanging out in his bouncer playing with an empty water bottle. He dropped it on the floor and then starting looking for it. He was really searching for it on the floor and tried to reach for it. He does something new all the time. I just think, Andrew and I made this wonderful little creature who is constantly learning and developing and changing. It blows me away when I really think about it.

He is also just so adorable. Andrew and I are both guilty of watching him sleep. I stare at him and cannot believe how beautiful he is. When he is doing something for the first time, how smart he is, how perfect just the way he is. I can become overwhelmed by my feelings for him. Sometimes I pray to God that nothing ever happens to him. I'm not even sure that I believe in God, but I do pray to a God in regards to Lawry. I will watch him and pray that I die first, that I will never have to endure the lose of him.

One more cute photo just cause:

Teeth and Turkey

I have wanted to post for a while now. This topic is over a week old, but it is still big news that I want to record. Lawry got his first tooth on Thanksgiving day. It is one of his bottom middle teeth. Just in time to try real mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving at his grandmother's house. He also reached to hug my mom, which I think made her whole day. It is pretty amazing. On weekend mornings, Lawry, Andrew, and I will just lay in bed for a bit before getting up to start our day. He will look at me and then reach out his wonderful, little arms to hug me. I give him a big hug. He will do the same thing to Andrew. We do this as a family multiple times. Best way to start the day! Warm fuzzies swim around in my stomach and heart with each reach of his arms.

Lawry now has two, count them, two bottom teeth. Luckily, he has not bitten me while eating. He is such a good boy. The day after Thanksgiving, we ventured out for some Black Friday shopping and put up our first family Christmas tree. Andrew and I normally do not do a tree, but it is different now, like everything else. I bought decorations and a tree topper. I think it looks amazing. Lawry likes to grab at the ornaments. I got one for his first Christmas: a pig in honor of his Korean birthday. I too like to stare at the tree. I'm proud of it, like I'm proud of him and our family.
